Lets introduce this topic by one of my favorite multimedia interpretations:

My contribution to the Bornless Ritual is this painting with a gate opened by Samekh.
Black Mirror in the middle is used for magick perception into the Unknown.

It is neutral to the user, it is not connected to my personal universe. You can imagine it as a StarGate-like-thing, setting the target by using the words.

This is also one of the connections between Daimon work and Demonic work:
It is the Preliminary Invocation to the Geotia (Lesser Key of Solomon) with the names and seals of demons.
