Planetary Working is one of the basic topics for every alchimist and magician. For a long time in history, astrology was regarded as scholarship, and every traditional magic uses planetary forces. Usually one starts with the 7 classic planets, regarding sun and moon as „planet“:
Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn
One of the most beautiful alchemical ressources on planets and their attributions is „Splendor Solis„:

The first step of planetary working is this: learning of correspondances and meaning.
Like: Moon – Water – Emotion – Silver – Monday – …
So if you read in a ritual or an alchemical text the word moon, there should come up a whole list of associations in your brain, and new association chains are connected with every piece of experience and learning. The trap is here the intellectual knowing: this can lead you into great insight, but also in an endless universe of inner dialogue of nonsense. But this is one of the big challenges of the mental realm everybody has to master on the path.

Then there is Astrology: this is adding the dimensions of where and when (mathematics: x,y,z and t) to your work. A planet is located on a specific position at a given time, and has a specific chevron to other planets (aka constellations). Oberservation about this for some thousand years showed up rules about „how the universe works“ – and with the concept of „As above So below“ it gives you hints on the invisible rules for everything here on this planet. Watching this is like watching god to see how it is done, was done and will be done.

In herbal Alchemy (spagyrics), there are signatures associated with plants: the form, behaviour, effect, everything is associated with planets and constellations. And together with the understanding of one’s astrological chart, you can improve health and give medical advises based on the understanding of planetary forces in the body.

For Magicians, there are Sigils and Seals for deeper connection to the planetary forces. This page has lots of ressources and background infos (use footer menu for more). The main difference to astrology is: you create the planetary constellation by yourself – the LHP approach. No longer waiting for a planetary constellation to appear on the sky, you call the planets up within yourself.
And you can use current constellations for your work, and get deeper knowledge by connection to them. Like calling saturn sigil on the saturn transistion last December brought me alignment to this force. Calling a contrary force to the existing one can reduce negative effects or overwhelming lessons. Like using a Sun power in the deepest winter against depression. Or rhythmical therapies with Sun and Moon using gold and silver to bring one back into natural rhythms.

Another topic for alchemists is metal, but this requires more laboratory experience. Nevertheless, the big importance of gold to alchemists is known even in mainstream media. Gold is connected to the sun, silver to moon, and so on.
Like planets, there are a lot of meanings associated with the metals, and they are cross-referenced to planets.
